چکیده

abstract temperature is the most important environmental factor that affects flowering and fruiting. the temperatures induce reproduction and cause damaging to tree or its crop.this paper analyzed daily minimum temperatures 0.0oc, and maximum temperatures 12.5 oc from october 1 to may 31 at nine sites in olive producing and cultivating regions, and one control station, using thermal adaptability model. to determine the probability of high temperature damage during flowering within each region, temperatures equal to or higher than 37.8 oc were considered. to determine damage produced by last frost, temperature equal to or below 0 oc that occurred during flowering within each region, was considered. the model has introduced indicates that shiraz, manjil, gorgan, gonbad and sarpol zohab stations show temperature patern similar to olive producing regions. keywords: temperature; damage index; vernalization; olive, iran.

Measurement and modeling of evapotranspiration of olive (Olea europaea L.) orchards

Efficient irrigation management requires a good quantification of evapotranspiration. In the case of olive orchards, which are the dominant crop in vast areas of southern Europe, very little information exists on evaporation. Measurements of aerodynamic conductance and evaporation above and below an olive orchard allowed the calibration of a transpiration model of olive trees based on the Penma...

Pedologic Factors Affecting Virgin Olive Oil Quality of "Chemlali" Olive Trees (Olea europaea L.).

The aim of this study examined the characterization of extra virgin olive oil samples from the main cultivar Chemlali, grown in five olive orchards with different soil type (Sandy, Clay, Stony, Brown, Limestone and Gypsum). Volatile compounds were studied using headspace-solid phase micro-extraction (HS-SPME) and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) technics. Moreover, the sterol profil...

Genome sequence of the olive tree, Olea europaea

BACKGROUND The Mediterranean olive tree (Olea europaea subsp. europaea) was one of the first trees to be domesticated and is currently of major agricultural importance in the Mediterranean region as the source of olive oil. The molecular bases underlying the phenotypic differences among domesticated cultivars, or between domesticated olive trees and their wild relatives, remain poorly understoo...

The Peculiar Landscape of Repetitive Sequences in the Olive (Olea europaea L.) Genome

Analyzing genome structure in different species allows to gain an insight into the evolution of plant genome size. Olive (Olea europaea L.) has a medium-sized haploid genome of 1.4 Gb, whose structure is largely uncharacterized, despite the growing importance of this tree as oil crop. Next-generation sequencing technologies and different computational procedures have been used to study the comp...

Identification and Assessment of the Potential Allergenicity of 7S Vicilins in Olive (Olea europaea L.) Seeds.

Olive seeds, which are a raw material of interest, have been reported to contain 11S seed storage proteins (SSPs). However, the presence of SSPs such as 7S vicilins has not been studied. In this study, following a search in the olive seed transcriptome, 58 sequences corresponding to 7S vicilins were retrieved. A partial sequence was amplified by PCR from olive seed cDNA and subjected to phyloge...
